The Future of Travel?

Tips To Help You Virtually Explore the World In 2021 And Beyond……

The coronavirus pandemic led to the unprecedented lockdown of countries around the world and with it, a near complete halt to the travel and tourism industry. So many businesses were affected as the world descended into a period of momentary chaos and fear. As the saying goes, “necessity is the mother of invention” and when it comes to travel and tourism, the world was quick to respond with virtual tours and experiences that are designed to mimic the real thing as we were waiting for a return to normalcy. Since then, this nascent technology has started to grow into a viable enterprise that has forced us to ask “will this be the future of travel?”

What are Virtual Tours?

Much like video telephoning allows users the visual and auditory sensation of communicating with each other, virtual tours use augmented reality technology in order to allow users to immerse themselves at particular places of interest, locations and environments as if they were physically present.

The benefits of virtual tours and experiences like this transcends the fact that there may be a lockdown in place or some other obstacle to travel such as economic or political barriers. As such, people will be able to experience any part of the world from the comfort of wherever they are. Think of how wonderful it will be to sit at a café in Italy and be able to just put on a headset to be transported to Thailand while you listen to your friend’s story of traveling to Thailand.

How to Enjoy Virtual Tours

The system might not be perfect yet but you can still get the most out of what’s currently available.

Here are some of the ways to get the best value for your time and/ money.

Tip #1 – Choose your Preferred Experience

Depending on your preferences, there are many experiences for you to choose from such as:

  • Games

  • Parks

  • Museums

  • Cruises

  • Excursions

  • Any combination of the above customized for you.

P.S. Some virtual experiences are location-restricted. That’s no problem, though – a VPN download to access global content is all you need - and you’re good to go!

Tip #2 – Choose your Space

Since the experience can be so immersive, you might accidentally find yourself knocking down items, walking into a wall, tripping over furniture or something of the sort. For this reason, make sure to designate a space so that you can enjoy the experience in a safe manner.

Tip #3 – Show up Early

Especially for those scheduled virtual experiences (like cruises), you want to show up early. That way, you warm up to the group faster and increase your chances of having fun. Not to mention, you avoid looking rude since being late wastes everybody’s time.

Tip #4 – Enjoy yourself

Honestly, please do this. After enduring the restrictions and hardships of 2020, you deserve all the fun that you are about to have.

Its Virtual Time

Now that you know what to expect, it’s time to start browsing the various virtual experiences in 2021 and beyond. Safe travels.
